PRIVACY POLICY

1. Who we are

This policy explains how BAZIQUE collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit our website. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

For the purposes of POPIA, the responsible party is:

BAZIQUE 207 Main Road, Green Point, Cape Town, 8005 Email: [privacy contact email]

By using this website, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. It covers the website only. Ticket purchases, event attendance and event photography are covered by the terms of our ticketing partner and our general event terms and disclaimer

2. Information we collect

We collect as little as we need. You can browse the site without telling us who you are.

  • Information you give us. If you email us or contact us through the site, we receive your name, email address and anything you choose to include in your message.
  • Information collected automatically. When you visit, Google Analytics collects technical and usage information: your approximate location (city or region), device and browser type, pages viewed, time spent on the site, and how you arrived. This information is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.

We do not knowingly collect special personal information, as defined in POPIA, through this website.

3. Tickets, cookies and third-party services

Tickets‍

Tickets are sold through Howler. When you buy a ticket, you leave our website, and Howler collects and processes your details, including payment information, under its own privacy policy and terms. We may receive attendee information from Howler, such as your name, email address and ticket type, so that we can manage entry and communicate with you about the event.

Cookies and analytics:‍

Our website uses cookies, which are small text files stored on your device. We use Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. The site will still work if you do.

Applications and other links

‍Artist and volunteer applications are run on Google Forms, outside this website. Information you submit there is collected by BAZIQUE and stored by Google, and is used only to assess your application. Other links on our site may take you to third-party websites or social media. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.

4. How we use and protect your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries
  • manage ticketing, entry and event communications
  • understand how the website is used and improve it
  • meet our legal obligations

We will not sell your personal information. We will only send you marketing if you have agreed to receive it or if POPIA otherwise permits it, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with: We share information only with service providers who help us run the website and the event, such as Howler, Google and our website host. They may process it only on our instructions or under their own privacy terms. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cross-border transfers: Some of these providers, including Google, store data outside South Africa. We use providers that are subject to adequate data protection laws or binding agreements, as required by section 72 of POPIA.

How long we keep it: We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. After that, we delete or de-identify it.

Security: We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No website is completely secure, however. If a security compromise affects your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

5. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it
  • ask us to correct, update or delete your information
  • object to us processing your information, including for direct marketing
  • withdraw your consent where we rely on it
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@bazique.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on a request.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
